Hi, my name is Fiona and I have spent twenty years working in traditional marketing both client and agency side. After starting my career with a marketing agency I decided I needed a certificate to prove my knowledge and competency, so I studied with the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK and achieved the highest grade in my graduate entry exams and my Diploma in Marketing. I went on to study for a higher degree and was awarded a Masters Degree in Marketing with Distinction by the University of Greenwich in London, UK. All while being a single mother and working a full time job. It’s what we have to do isn’t it?
So when the world turned upside down and I found myself without a traditional job I naturally turned to the internet. I have to confess that I have found it challenging. I am bursting with ideas but there are always impediments along the way and I needed to generate an income FAST!
The Dangers of Shopping
So I went shopping to increase my internet marketing knowledge and generate an income. So many courses claim that you will be earning staggering sums of money in just a few short weeks, and that their training is second to none. What I did learn along the bumpy road is how dark an art it is to be successful on the internet. So many times information is incomplete and down the road you discover there are barriers to entry. BUT you then find this is not possible until you have achieved more than 4,000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months and have 1000 subscribers AND it can take up to a month for YouTube to review your channel and accept you onto the YPP program. … That, somehow, never got mentioned.
